Material for kindergartens and schools

We recommend that teachers and educators give their learning group a specific work assignment before their visit. You are welcome to use the materials provided here for free.

    The small MINT researchers

Children question the daily routine and get to the bottom of things. They are constantly on the go as little researchers in their everyday lives. They marvel, wonder, and try things out.

At the EXPERIMINTA ScienceCenter, the Small MINT Researchers tour is designed for children up to the age of eight. Ten hands-on experiments allow young children to discover familiar phenomena and explore scientific ideas.

In addition to ideas for experimenting in the ScienceCenter, the materials also offer a variety of suggestions for further activities at home or in the classroom.

You can download the booklet "The Small MINT Researchers" as a PDF file free,
or buy it in printed form for 3 euros at the EXPERIMINTA cash desk.

    Material for primary school classes

    Materials on mirrors

The handouts on mirrors and reflections provide clear background information on the importance of mirrors in history and how children discover and learn to understand their reflection. There are also practical suggestions and detailed tips on how you can explore the exciting mirror stations in the EXPERIMINTA ScienceCentre with your class.

The brochure is rounded off with tips for further observation in everyday life and at school as well as for experimenting in class - from observation tasks and simple craft projects to experiments for the classroom.

You can download an excerpt of the materials on mirrors here.
The complete booklet is available at the cash desk for 4 euros.

    Material for secondary school classes

Please note that the materials for secondary school classeare currently available in German only.

To download the worksheets for free, please refer to the German page.

If you are interested, you can also use the worksheets in combination for a learning day, so that the pupils deal with the aspects of scientific experimentation. In addition to the technical content, the focus is particularly on the methodical procedure of experimentation: Experiments as a methodical test of hypotheses and as systematic exploration.

    This includes:

    • Precise observation
    • Methods of ordering
    • Systematic Varying
    • Check assumptions
    • Set up measurement series
    • Evaluate measurement results

If you want to proceed this way, we recommend the following:

Divide your class into small working groups of 3 to 4 pupils. Each group will be given the task of working through three to four of the stations. You should calculate about 20 minutes per station. After about 90 minutes, all of them should meet again at the end. Each group will then present a particular station at the final meeting on site or in your next class. Discuss the general learning content on the methodical approach to experimentation.

    Material for high school classes

For high school classes, worksheets are available for numerous experimental stations, which you are welcome to use in class. They deal with topics such as oscillations and waves, motion and force. Please note that the materials are currently available in German only.

To download the worksheets, please refer to the German page.

    Alternative assignment

If you don't want to use the worksheets but still want to give your group an assignment during the visit, we recommend the following:

Before the visit, give the students the assignment of choosing a favourite experiment (individually or in groups). They should then describe it in detail (e.g. what it looks like, what you can do, what happens and why). The description could also take the form of a presentation, a poster or an essay, for example.
