Examples of these tasks include | brief job description:
As a participant and mentor in the “Jugend forscht” science competition, I’ve learned that the path ahead is never a straight one. If you set big goals for yourself, you’ll face setbacks along the way, but it’s up to you to pick yourself up and keep going. You only learn from your mistakes, so:
Never let yourself get discouraged, and have fun discovering the world.
My passion lies in the natural sciences and research. I would like to collaborate with scientists from different countries to advance our understanding. In doing so, I seek out challenges to grow personally and explore the limits of what is currently possible.
A major influence was Dr. Alexander Gerst (a German ESA astronaut), whose videos I stumbled upon online and which deepened my interest in (space) science and space exploration.
By participating in competitions such as “Jugend forscht” and “CanSat,” I was able to experience firsthand how scientific work is conducted both in a team setting and in everyday life. What was particularly impressive was learning from and with one another, which showed me how valuable the exchange of knowledge and ideas is. These competitions and the positive hands-on experiences further solidified my career aspirations. The validation I received through projects like building satellites as part of a team and participating in international exchanges showed me that this is the right path and work environment for me.
As a child, I loved gazing up at the starry sky and imagining all the secrets hidden there. That sparked my fascination with the natural sciences, especially physics, at an early age.
While experimenting in my project on sorting plastics using electricity, I was able to explore some questions, which, however, raised further ones. By studying physics, I want to pursue this curiosity further and gain deeper insights into the phenomena, theories, and natural phenomena.
What I value most is the exchange of ideas with like-minded people. This constantly inspires me to broaden my horizons and take on new challenges. Thanks to my involvement in mentoring “Jugend forscht” projects and coordinating the state-level IPhO (International Physics Olympiad), I am able to see things from different perspectives.
I appreciate the opportunity to explore many different STEM fields, to constantly learn new things, and to combine theory and practice to develop solutions to current problems.
The resilience to not let setbacks discourage you, the willingness to share your experiences and knowledge with others, and a curiosity about the unknown.
Have the courage to ask big questions, explore the world, and see unexpected twists as opportunities. Believe in yourselves and view even mistakes as valuable lessons. Make the most of your freedom and let passion and curiosity guide you.
